Gurung Tribe

The Gurung tribe inhabits various regions in Nepal and they became well known after several documentaries from BBC and Vice, they are brave and risk their life for a centuries long tradition.

The Gurung hold their typical rituals before harvesting the honey and they climb an enormous ladder constructed of bamboo - below their group lit a fire for creating smoke to reach the hive and subdue the bees, using a rope they lower a basket placing them below the hives and then the hunters dislodge the hives from the cliff and catch the honeycomb with the basket.

The Gurung's are in general scared to use the ladder, but when they see the bee hives they become somehow fearless. Their hands are swollen with bee stings and they still risk their life for harvesting the honey and seem to be nonchalant in their achievement.
